ASE Continues Work on ANSI Warning Standards

For more than 20 years, ASE consultants have been active participants and taken leading roles in the development of the ANSI Z535 standards, the American National Standards for safety signs, labels, colors, symbols, and safety information in documents. ASE staff will again be attending the annual meeting of the Z535 committee. Attendants of October 22 and 23 meeting in Baltimore will include Steven Hall, the chair of the Z535.4 committee on product safety signs and labels; Tim Rhoades and Paul Frantz (ANSI Z535 vice-chair), representing the American Society of Safety Engineers; and Judi Isaacson, who will be presenting the results of her Z535 working group on new and electronic media.

Attendance at this year’s meeting continues ASE’s decades-long involvement with national warnings standards. Over the years, ASE members have personally followed the evolution of ANSI Z535 warning standards since the 1980s, written about its history dating to the 1940s, served on the Executive Committee, conducted research to inform the standards process, and led the development of a new ANSI Z535 standard.
