Elaine C. Wisniewski, M.S.E., M.A., CPE, C.P.S.M. Ms. Wisniewski is a Managing Consultant at Applied Safety and Ergonomics and directs projects related to symbol development and evaluation. She participates in research, development, and evaluation of safety communication such as warnings, instructions, symbols and graphics, owner's manuals, and other safety-related publications. Ms. Wisniewski is also a member of the U.S. TAG for ISO Technical Committee 145 on graphical symbols, which has developed many standards, including the ISO 3864 series for Graphical symbols -- Safety colours and safety signs, ISO 7010, Graphical symbols -- Safety colours and safety signs -- Safety signs used in workplaces and public areas, and the ISO 9186 series, for Graphical symbols for public information -- Test methods. She is also a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z535.3 Subcommittee for Criteria for Safety Symbols. Ms. Wisniewski is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), a Certified Product Safety Manager (CPSM), and a Lecturer in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) and the Society for Technical Communication (STC). Prior to joining ASE, Ms. Wisniewski participated in research related to automotive human factors and ergonomics at the University of Michigan’s Center for Ergonomics and Johnson Controls, Inc. Ms. Wisniewski received Master's and Bachelor's degrees from the University of Michigan in Industrial and Operations Engineering and a Master's degree in Written Communication from Eastern Michigan University, focusing on the evaluation of symbols via web-based surveys and information design and theory. |
