Judith J. Isaacson, M.S., C.P.S.M. Ms. Isaacson is a Managing Consultant in the Human Factors and Product Safety Group and the Director of Usability. She participates in research, development, and evaluation of safety communication such as warnings, instructions, symbols and graphics, owner's manuals, and other safety-related publications. Ms. Isaacson has played a leading role in our firm's work with the U.S. Coast Guard, Underwriter's Laboratories (UL), and product manufacturers to develop new standards for safety and performance labeling of personal flotation devices. She is also a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z535.6 Subcommittee on Product Safety Information in Product Manuals, Instructions, and Other Collateral Materials. She is also a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) and the Usability Professionals' Association (UPA). Ms. Isaacson has experience developing and conducting usability studies, performing expert reviews, and eliciting information from both laypeople and subject matter experts regarding decision-making, product use, and preferences. In addition, Ms. Isaacson has conducted studies addressing the effects of formatting and presentation on how people process and respond to warnings and instructions. She has used a cognitive task analysis methodology to investigate patient decision-making throughout the medication-taking process. Ms. Isaacson also has expertise in human computer interaction and has conducted research in driver skill development. She holds a Master's degree in Human Factors Psychology from Wright State University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rice University. She is also a Certified Product Safety Manager (C.P.S.M.). |
